Do you want to know what it is like to build and own a PHEV?

I am updating this site as I have time from Nov. 2006 through today.

DIY - Start Here.
I will be the first person to tell you PHEV's are not for everyone.  However, I can tell you, "THEY WORK!"  I have designed my system to be installed by a HybridPlugs mechanic or a Do-It-Yourselfer familiar with High Voltage Safety practices and procedures.  If you would like I would be happy to do the High Voltage Connection for nominal fee for my time, and travel.

This PHEV Conversion System can be made to be “100% reversible,” leaving no trace, so you can remove the system and keep it to put in another Prius.  I am still building this page so please stay tuned for more detail and photos. You can save thousand of dollars on this conversion if you build it yourself.

1.   Start your DIY PHEV Conversion Journey by installing a Genuine Toyota EV button!

2.   Next Install a Can View System with ribbon cables to trunk, you want more Prius data anyway.
      (Engine Temp., Battery Temp.)

3.   Then Tap your High Voltage Main Prius Battery, and install the Charge Interlock signal tap.

4.   Tap the 12 volt Prius Accessory battery.

5.   Install a simple "Plug and Play" Prius Fan Modification.

6.   Add an extra vent fan.

7.  Install your AC connection for plug-in in your car.  Three methods available are Standard rear bumper plug, Hidden plug, or 100% reversible plug.

8.   Install AC side of your charger

9.  Mount the Pre-wired battery box in the trunk.

10. Install lead-acid batteries.

The goal is to put as many PHEV’s on the road as possible, as quickly as possible.  I want to make it easer for you then it was for me to convert your car.  I've started this site to give “the tree-huggers, the do-gooders, the sod-busters, the cheap hawks, and the evangelicals,” (As former CIA Chief James Woolsey call us.) a place to meet, do research, and find resources to do these conversions.
